Soccer! Soccer! Soccer!

This weekend was Grady's last game! The Big Red ended their season undefeated!!! This last game was super special because Grady got to play against his cousin's team!! He was a little sad that both teams couldn't win! I was in Wellington at the football game, but Shawn, Nana and Joe were there to cheer the Big Red on! Grady had a pretty good game from what I was told....but, I really think he was too excited about his cousin to really care about this game!! WAY TO GO BIG RED!!
In the afternoon, the Big Red met up at the bowling alley for an end of the season party! The boys had a great time bowling, munching on pizza and cupcakes and laughing the afternoon away! Grady really had a great team...he made several friends that I'm sure we will meet up with again in the sports arena!

Football!

Here, Gabe is trying his best to hold off 3 players so that Ceetyn, #22, can run with the ball.....I think he did pretty well! You'll notice "Big Ben" coming up behind to help out!

Gabe had another game on Saturday! They have had a run of bad luck as far as winning goes the last few weeks! This week they lost 14-0 against Wellington. We are hoping to end the season on a winning note this week....let's keep our fingers crossed! However, Gabe had a great game! In fact, him and I were eating lunch after the game and he even said, "You know, I feel bad, my team had a bad game, but I had a really good game. " I could tell this upset him, but I just told him sometimes that happens..it's just the way it is with team sports...not everyone has a good day at the same time! Maybe the individual sports coming up will be more his thing! Anywho, he played wide receiver on several plays and even got in as corner back on a few plays on defense. He is doing a much better job blocking on offense and was able to hold off a couple of players, so his teammate could catch a pass....too bad he wasn't able to hold off all three! Looking forward to the end of the season game this Saturday....GO ORIOLES!

Gabe on the end at corner back!

A Trip to the Zoo!

On Thursday, Nana and I took the boys to the zoo! It was a gorgeous day for the zoo...plus, we hadn't been in over 3 years.....a lot had changed! They had added a penguin exhibit, a tiger exhibit and a Beastro! The boys had a great time....so glad they had a day off!!

Another Day Off....Another Great Day!

Yesterday the boys had another day off from school! This time Shawn took off as well!!! What a great day....all 3 of my guys home on a weekday!! We spent the entire day together....we ran errands, had lunch at Jason's Deli, bought wrestling shoes!, and went to All-Star Sports for go-carting and arcade games!!! What a fabulous day to start out our weekend!

Field Trip!

On Tuesday Gabe's class headed to Butler County Community College for a Science field trip! BCCC was have a water fest....we went from class to class learning all about water conservation, how water is involved in electricity, animals that live in water, and lots of other water related activities! I'm not usually a science-y type person, but I actually learned a lot on Tuesday! I had a great day hanging with Gabe and his class....which I will add are a very well behaved group of kiddos! I have been on A LOT of field trips in 5 years, and this was by far the best behaved group! There was only his teacher and I for chaperone's, so I had 10 kids to keep track of.....they stayed right by me, listened to me, and I only had to get a little firm once....our group kept having to go from a class on the first floor, up to the second, back down to the first...so the kids were getting a little rambuncious....but they calmed down the minute I said something...they were also completely polite...I only had to remind them a couple of times! I hope I get the opportunity to go again....I had a great time!!!
During one of our classes.....here they are learning about different types of turtles that live in our area!

After lunch we ran some of the wigglies out.....a good old game of duck-duck-goose! I think this definitely helped with a calmer afternoon!

Soccer.......SCORE!!!

On Saturday, Big Red kept their winning steak alive!!! Final score 5-1!! This was also a very big day for Mr. Grady himself....he had his first SCORE!!! We were so proud, but he was so modest...he only smiled...no cart wheels, no yelling and screaming, from him at least ;), he just continued on like it was an everyday occurrence!!! He also played goalie...with 0 scores made on him! He did have a save...so at least he saw a little bit of action at goal! We have 2 more Big Red games......We'll keep you posted!!! GO BIG RED!!!

Augusta VS. Clearwater!

Football was back in session on Saturday as well! Gabe was selected as a Team Captain for this game....so he went out for the coin toss in the beginning of the game! It was a pretty exciting first half....Gabe was in on some offense and all of the kick-offs! Going into half time Orioles were ahead 16-8!! Unfortunately, after half time all went down the tubes! The Orioles had their first and hopefully last serious injury of the season; it was to our awesome running back Ceetyn. He was clotheslined and was knocked unconscious. It was an agonizing 30 minutes with him lying still on the field before he was eventually taken away in an ambulance. Fortunately, we saw him in Dillon's on Sunday afternoon...he was fine!!! Evidently when he was clotheslined, he was knocked out...he did lose feeling and motion in his neck for a short time, but the CAT Scan and X-Rays came back clean. I'll tell you, I was scared to death....this is not supposed to happen to 9 year olds....this is for the NFL.....All this week at practice, I had a pretty hard time watching any of the kids get tackled...I'm glad Shawn is taking Gabe to the game this week...I'm not sure I can watch! So, back to the game....after Ceetyn's injury, our team, for obvious reasons did not want to get tackled. I think they were all pretty rattled. The final score was 32-16, Clearwater with the win. It was hard to lose that way...had we not had that injury, the outcome would have been different. Win or Lose, Ceetyn is okay....and that is the important thing! GO ORIOLES!

Hot Dawg Day!

Last Friday, Ewalt Elementary had their Annual Hot Dawg Day! This is a day filled with P.E. type activities, juice, popsicles and of course hot dogs! They evidently have this day every year on the Friday of Homecoming Week, and from the beginning of the school year, I had heard other parents, faculty and students talk about this, so I couldn't wait to see what it was all about! I volunteered to help out all day....the 3rd - 5th graders participate in the morning and Kdg - 2nd grade participate in the afternoon, so in order to see both boys....I was locked in all day! It was fantastic...I had such a blast, and it was an excellent way to get to see the boys' hanging with their friends without being the weird mom none of us want to be!

This is the only way I could get a picture of Gabe.....making his hot dog! He really is getting way to cool!

Mismatch Day at Ewalt!!

This week is Homecoming week in Augusta...so in celebrating that Ewalt has designated each day as a special day...yesterday was Hat Day, today was Mismatch Day!!! Usually I monitor what the boys are wearing each day....I let them pick out their clothing, but if it doesn't match I redirect them! Not today....I sent them downstairs after breakfast and let them run loose.....I was not surprised by either outfit! At drop off this morning I was rolling....every parent must of set their child loose...the outfits were priceless...I hope someone got some pictures!

Grady obviously has an eye for this sort of day....as you can see, I must redirect him most everyday with his clothing choices!!! Gabe playing it a little more conservative...does this surprise you?!!

Sports, Sports, Sports!

Saturday, our family headed in two different directions once again! Gabe had a football game in Newton and Grady had a soccer game in Augusta...and no less at the same time! So, Nana and Joe cheered on Grady and the Big Red, while Gpa Glen and I rooted for Gabe and the Mighty Orioles!--poor Shawn had to work this weekend...both days...BOO! Both boys had fantastic games....Gabe was in again on Kick-off.....which there were several of! and on Offense as Wide Receiver! He went out for one pass, but the quarterback was surrounded by the Warriors...so that pass ended up being a Quarterback Keeper! He was in on several blocks....he is really getting the hang of it! The Newton team definitely gave our boys a run for their money..the final score 36-20....I know the score doesn't represent a challenge...but trust me, it was!
He is the one 3rd from the right...he eventually got the white guy so Ceetyn (running back) could keep going!
To steal or not to steal!!!

Grady's team also remains undefeated!! Their final score with AAA Hardwood was 2-1! Grady played goalkeeper again.....no scoring was done while he was on duty!! Of course the most important time for any game for Grady is treat time at the concession stand!! I am so thankful that I will be able to write about Grady's game first hand next week.....Grady has a game at 8:00 and Gabe's is at 10:30...and get this, they are in the same town!! That means we will be able to watch both boys!!! YAY!!! GO ORIOLES AND BIG RED!!!!
